Bowsprit Gallery

Bowsprit Gallery opened in the spring of 2007. The first location was at the corner of Williams and Center on the main floor of the historic Nichols Hotel. South Haven resident Tim Morris, and his daughter Erin, had a very hands on approach to creating a decidedly nautical themed Fine Art photography gallery.

Both avid Lake Michigan sailors, Tim and Erin found that much of their photographic subject matter revolved around the summer boating and sailing season. Sailors are lucky to be surrounded by awesome scenery and ever changing and challenging weather systems. As they put their sailing skills to the test, it was a natural progression for Tim and Erin to add the element of photography to the mix.

Our current gallery location opened in the spring of 2011. This building was the first home of the now famous and popular South Haven restaurant Clementine’s, who is now relocated down the street.

In the spring of 2010, Erin officially became Captain Erin Morris and launched her own sailing charter business, Sailing South Haven. Under the direction of Captain Erin, it has become a popular tourist favorite and is certainly a must on the “things to do” list in the summer.

Tim’s photography is featured in the galley in a variety of presentations. Gallery wrap canvas Giclee is featured throughout. More common but no less special is the traditional framed and matted behind glass. All of the framed pieces are available as matted prints as well.

Much of the photography is based on Lake Michigan; from Chicago and it’s awesome architecture and history on the southern end to Mackinac Island and all of it’s quaint charm and simplicity on the northern end…not to mention all the awesome stuff in between.

The lighthouses…the beaches…the sunsets…the schooners and sloops…the seagulls and sand…

Tim is constantly listening to input from customers as to what they would like to see in the next edition of photos. We do introduce new photos all the time and print many in panoramic sizes as well as a few extreme panoramas. We also do many of our prints in black and white as well as sepia tone.

Let us know what you were hoping to see..and we will certainly be able to let you know if we have it.
